My Story

Hi, I’m Jo, founder of The BusinessGenie and your go-to partner for simplifying the behind-the-scenes of your small business.​

With 20+ years in admin and ops management across local government, the NHS and most recently policing, I’ve always been curious about how things work — and how they could work better. I’ve led teams through chaos and confusion, streamlining systems to save time, reduce errors, and build confidence, as well as enhancing the customer experience.

​After settling down after a three-year sabbatical (which involved selling my house, leaving my job, and yes — living in a motorhome!), I realised I wanted more freedom and flexibility in my working life.

That’s when The BusinessGenie was born.​

Now, I help small business owners who’ve outgrown their processes to simplify, streamline, and feel in control again — with a calm,
trusted partner by their side.  
My aim? To lift the weight off your shoulders and leave you feeling clearer, more confident, and ready to grow.​

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll probably find me volunteering at parkrun, taking a chilly dip at my local wild swimming spot, or adding to my slightly ridiculous collection of teaspoons.​
